The Fruits the Prophet Used to Eat
Abdullah bin Ja'far narrated that "the Prophet used to eat cucumbers with dates" [Bukhari 5124, Muslim 2043]. There is also a narration that mentions that he used to eat cucumber with salt [Abu ash-Shaykh 676, from Aisha]. However, this narration is weak according to al-Iraqi since it has Yahya bin Hashim, a liar according to ibn Ma'een.
ar-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awadh bin Afraa says, "Mu'adh bin Afraa [her uncler] sent me with a plate that had dates topped with small cucumbers, and he used to like cucumbers. So, I brought it to the Prophet while he had some jewelry that came to him from Bahrain [from Zakat collection]. So, he filled his hands with jewels and gave it to me" [Tabarani in al-Kabeer]. This Hadith also shows the great generosity of the Prophet. He would not let anyone do good to him except that he would match that good and increase on it.
Aisha narrated that "the Prophet used to eat watermelon with dates" [Abu Dawud 3836].
